MADEIRA Overview

Right in the middle of the Atlantic, the islands of Madeira and Porto Santo are a heaven of natural beauty. The exotic colours of the flowers stand out among the blue sea and the emerald green vegetation; this is an archipelago where two thirds are a protected area and where the largest Laurisilva forest in the world in located. The springtime temperature, felt all year round, cries out for open air activities. Boat rides are an excellent way of admiring the coastline from a different perspective. Madeira offers various tourist complexes and accesses
to the sea with prime conditions for leisure boating and scuba diving. The island of Porto Santo, in particular is the ideal place to escape from stress, on a beach holiday with a spot of golf. Popular festivities which take place all year round, are opportunities to appreciate traditional gastronomic flavours and see Madeira partying, especially for the Carnival parades, the Flower Festival, the Atlantic Festival and, above all, the New Year’s Eve fireworks.

Best time to visit Madeira

Madeira’s climate consists of hot, dry summers and mild, wet winters. In general, April to September is mostly dry, whilst October to May is fairly wet. To sum up, Madeira is lovely all round, but is particularly pretty in spring, when the whole island resembles one huge botanical garden.

Madeira is well served with a variety of flights from various European cities. Gateway to Madeira Island, Madeira Airport is a modern infrastructure, located 20 minutes away from the capital city of Funchal. Porto Santo Airport, located 3km from the city centre, provides all comfort and sympathy at both the arrival and the departure of those who choose this paradise.
